GENEALOGICAL AND PERSONA: MEMOIRS OF WORCHESTER COUNTY, Vol 1.
The McKibben family of America is of Scotch-Irish origin. The progenitor came to Pennsylvania during the great emigration from 1720 to 1750 from the northern province of Ireland, which gave to Pennsylvania its sturdiest and best stock.
The variations in spelling the name make it somewhat difficult to trace. The family settled in the counties of Down and Antrim in the province of Ulster. Ireland, and are to be found nowhere else in the old country. The name is rare in Scotland, as at present spelled. The family was Presbyterian in religion and intermarried with the other Scotch families in Down and Ulster.
It is possible that a careful research would connect the Pennsylvania progenitor of the McKibbins or McKibbens with the family of Knockhashum, mentioned in the genealogy of the family of James Orr, of Ballyblack, who died in 1627 and whose wife, Janet McClement, died in 1636. The pedigree also mentions the McKibbins of Haw. Descendants of the Orr family of Scotch-Irish came to New Hampshire and Pennsylvania with the early Scotch-Irish settlers.

Joseph McGibbon is the earliest of our ancestors that we have found.
As white men wended their way westward, red men gave way, not however without resistance.Hense the Indian Wars that had the colonists in terror.
The first three counties established in Pennsylvania were Phildelphia, Bucks, and Chester, receiving their charters in 1685.te fourth was Lancaster County and here we find that Joseph McGibbon was ranted 80 acres of land in Little Briton Township.
Family history stories have three brothers coming to the colonies from Ireland somewhere between 1735 and 1740; Joseph, John, and Thomas.
We have only found Joseph and John. We find that during the American Revolution that Joseph's sons, James and Joseph all were involved - James supporting the Army with foods and supplies and Joseph became a 1st Lt in the Revolutionary Army.
John was very active in the Indian Wars and his sone also were active in the Revolutionary War; Johnin the Rangers in the western part of Pennsylvania

In the records of the Big Springs Presbyterian Church, one of the oldest of their records lists a Joseph McKibbin as one of the men who helped establish this church (1786).
Jeremiah MC KIBBIN had a son named Joseph, but this son could not have been the Joseph who helped establish the church (The son named Joseph was born in 1785). It could have been either a brother or perhaps father of Jeremiah.
