Humphrey Anderson (b. 19 Jul 1788, d. 28 Aug 1834)Humphrey Anderson (son of William Clark Anderson and Cavy Brashears)3 was born 19 Jul 1788 in FrederickCo., Maryland, and died 28 Aug 1834 in U.S. Rt. 40, National Road, Ohio.He married Lavinia Shannon on Abt. 1810 in Belmont County, Ohio, daughter of George Shannon and Jane Milligan.

1811-1816 on Early Tax Digests, Warren Twp., Belmont County, Ohio--
Left land by his father's 1810 will being the north half of the northwest quarter of section twenty nine, township eight, range 6 and was executor of his father's will with his mother Cavy Anderson.
Married Lavinia Shannon in 1810.
Was a contractor on the Old National Pike (Road) (now Rte. 40) and lived in Guernsey Co., Ohio
Took sick with typhoid fever and died August 28,1830 near where they were working between Zanesville (she refers to as Jamesville), and Columbus, Ohio.Buried at the side of the road.Oldest son, George Anderson was teaching school, and his mother called for him to accompany her to where Humphrey was, and hastened to get him to come home and care for the other children while she went to see about Humphrey, but Humphrey died before she reached her husband.

"This Indenture Made this Second day of September eighteen hundred and twenty two between Humphrey Anderson,and Olivinia his wife and Cavy Anderson his mother of Belmont County state of Ohio of the One part and James McConnel of County and State aforesaid of the Other part Witnesseth that the said Humphrey Anderson and Olovinia his wife and Cavy Anderson his mother for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and twenty-five
to them paid the receipt of which they hereby acknowledge and forever acquit the said James McConnel his h eirs and apigns (assigns) Hath bargained sold alliened and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain sell grand and confirm unto the said James McConnel his heirs or Apigns (assigns) forever A certain tract or parcel of Land being the North half of the North East Quarter of Section No. twenty nine Township Eight Range Six containing about eighty acres be the same more or less lying in Warren Township County and State aforesaid. To have and to hold the Land hereby conveyed unto the proper use and behoof of the said James McConnel his heirs Executors administrators or Apigns (assigns) with all and Singular the Improvements appertenances hereditaments &c belonging or in anywise appertaining thereunto the said Humphrey Anderson or Olivinia his wife and Cavy Anderson his mother for themselves their heirs Executors or administrators do covenant and agree to and with the said James Mc Connel his heirs or Apigns (assigns) by by these Presents that the Tract of Land before mentioned now is and hereafter Shall remain free of and from all former Sales Gifts Grants Bargans encumberance &c and the said Humphrey and Olovinia his wife and Cavy Anderson his Mother doth also for themselves their heirs Executors &c Warrant and Defend the above described property against any Person or Persons hereafter Lawfully claiming the same.In Testimony whereof we the said Homphrey Anderson and Olovinia his wife and Cavy Anderson his mother have hereunto set our hands to our seals the day and year above Written

Personally appeared before me the Subscriber one of the acting Justices of the Peace for said County the within
named Humphrey Anderson who acknowledged that he did voluntarily sign seal and Deliver the within deed of conveyance for the purposes therein expressed also personally appeared before me the said Olovina Anderson wife of the sd Humphrey Anderson and and being by me examined seperate and apart from her said Husband acknowledged the within deed of Conveyance to be her Voluntary act and Deed and that she executed the same without the threats exertion or persevation (persuasion?)
of her husband and freely relinquished her right of Dower to the premises within mentioned and Desires that the same may be admitted to record and also appeared before me the said Cavy Anderson and Acknowledged the within Deed of Conveyance to be her Voluntary act and Deed and that she executed the same of her own free will for the purposes therein expressed and desired the said Deed to be recorded as such.Given under my hads and seal this second day of September 1822.
