Tombstone rubbing shows Thomas U. Blake, name is said to be Thomas Early Blake which he must have spelled as Urly or Uarly based on tombstone findings. In some records, shown as Thomas Kincaid Blake, Sr. due to son Thomas Kincaid being referred to as Thomas Jr.
MAY BE ADDITIONAL CHILDREN BORN ABOUT 1823 AND 1825.

?born Chester, SC
Thomas Early Blake md 1-Elizabeth Owen. md 2-Lucinda Hunter 6-21-1821 Roane TN--need to verify middle name(s) of Thomas Blake.
..as far as I know, no one has found a will or estate record for Elizabeth Owen Blake. In correspondence from Brian Blake of Oxford, CT,
he writes: "Elizabeth Owen b. 1778, probably in the vicinity of Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia, d. Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, 16 Feb 1833 age 54-55". Brian Blake states his source for this information as Constance Elaine Blake, 631 Vineyard Road, N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico 87113.
Unknown if Elizabeth and Thomas Blake ever legally divorced.
Also from Brian Blake of Oxford, CT" "At the end of June, 1820, Thomas, 43 had an adulterous affair with 18 year old Lucinda Hunter. Lucinda gave birth in January 1821, and Thomas was forced to marry her. Elizabeth Owen, his wife of 24 years, left him and their children, the youngest of whom, our ancestor, Thomas Kincaid Blake, Jr., was seven years old. In rapid succession Thomas and Lucinda had eleven more children, their last, Thomas Blake, born in 1842 when his father was 66. In 1828-1829 Thomas and Lucinda relocated briefly to Rome in Floyd County, Georgia, in the northwestern part of the state on the Alabama state line, but they returned to Tennessee after about fifteen months. Sometime in the 1840's they followed other family members to northeastern Alabama, moving south from Tennessee to Sulphur Springs in up-land DeKalb County, where the old reprobate died in 1855"
...the LDS Church may have a record. Also from Brian Blake of Oxford: "Lorette Nixon reports that shortly before his death Thomas Early Blake converted to Mormonism. He was probably inspired by Lucinda's brother-in-law Abraham Owen Smoot, husband of his second wife's
half-sister Margaret Thompson McMeans. Abraham, who may be related to Elizabeth Owen, was a close associate of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., UT, of the Mormon Church's charismatic leader, Brigham Young." John William Blake (a brother of Thomas?)--did he move into Alabama for any length of time? Brian Blake of Oxford, CT, writes that he may have died in South Carolina 5 Apr 1850. Brian Blake also writes that John William Blake married Rebecca Henson. I don't know, I've got my doubts that this John William Blake died in South Carolina. As I stated to you previously, I think this was the "John Blake" who was in Jackson County, Georgia, about 1820 near my Samuel B. Windham and his wife Leah Blake. I have reason to believe that the William J. Blake age 44 who is listed in the 1850 Marshall County, Mississippi, federal census is a son of either Thomas Early Blake or his brother, John William Blake. Since I have not been able to connect this 1850 William J. Blake to Thomas Early Blake as his son, I think that this 1850 Marshell Co., MS, William J. Blake has to be a son of John William Blake. The William J. Blake (b, 1806) of Marshell Co., MS, moved along with the families of Samuel B. Windham on into Texas.

From LDS church records, show
Thomas, b. 7 Dec 1776, Chester, SC to William and Phandel Blake, but has death date of 5 Nov 1831 so ???. Source listed was Pleasantian Church Records (think it was supposed to be Presbyterian Church as brothers, John and William has that source). I am not sure this is the correct family; however, my Thomas and first wife Elizabeth named their first daughter, Phanel...so think it likely there is some relation. It was sent in by (?Reed, can't read first name) Slawley, 59100 Bishop Road, New Hudson, MI 48165, unknown date.

Burial: May 1855, Gardner Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Dekalb Co., AL
Notes for Elizabeth Owen:
Not sure about the claim to birth being in GA; other records indicate NC.
"Elizabeth Owen b. I believe this d.o.b. is incorrect based on the "died 16 Feb 1833 age 54 yrs, etc.
In 1818 tax list( ?Chester Co., SC--need to relocate source), there is a Thomas Owen ?business....and listed directly under it is a Thomas Blake
According to Brian Blake, of Connecticut--Thomas had adulterous affair 1820 with Lucinda Hunter, had a child, Elizabeth left him and their children--1820 or21 after abt 24 yr of marriage-(Thomas Kincaid Blake, Jr., the youngest, being age 7) and Thomas md Lucinda in 1821. As for ......did Thomas and Elizabeth divorce? Maybe so, maybe not. Brian Blake of Oxford, CT, seemed to not know. Quoting Brian: "We are trying to determine whether Thomas and his first wife, Elizabeth Owen, were legally divorced."
This may not be Elizabeth's parents ???? From: "nancy skees" ...all I show for the daughter Elizabeth of Thomas Grant Owen and Isabelle Allen is a birthdate of Sept 1781 and that she was married to a Green, first name unknown. ????--11/2001, she md Isaac Green Apr 1805 so does not appear to be the right Elizabeth Owen.

Notes for Mary Lucinda Hunter:
a stepchild....to Anthony McMeans.
born to Ester Hunter (McMeans)
1860--Lucinda was living with son R.I.G. and family in Floyd Co., GA, census p. 168, spouse Thomas had died in 1855 in DeKalb Co., AL.
Did Lucinda marry a Crawford after Thomas died?
Lucinda, age 68, gives Georgia as place of birth in 1870 DeKalb AL census, but think other censuses show it as SC. Her mother died in 1856 in Cherokee Co., Georgia.
