JOHN T SPECHT
John T "Jack" Specht Sr. 68 of 1514 Rhomberg Avenue died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday July 12 2001 surrounded by his family.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Burila will be in Linwood Cemeterywhere military rites wil be accorded by teh American Legion Post 6 of teh Dubuque and teh Didabled American Vetrans Chapter 6.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. at Behr Funeral home 1491 Main Street Dubuque, there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Mr Specht was a self-employed plasterer for more than 30 years.
He was born in Dubuque Iowa on OCtober 31, 1932 , the son of John M and Florence (Lightfoot) SPecht
He married Joyce M Johnson on August 13, 1953 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque.
He served withte h Marines during the Korean Conflict on the USS Essix He was a member og Holy Trintity Catholic Church. Faternal Orderof Eagles, and a member and commander of the DAV Chapter 6, He enjoied hunting and fishing and being on teh river. He greatly loved his family and friends and adored his grandchildren, they being his whole life.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce M Specht, two daughters, Sherry K (Mike ) Birkett, of Dubuque, and Angie (Redelle) Lawrence of Chicago IL, two sons, Jack T ( Ceclia) Specht Jr., of Omaha NE, and Steven J (Tammy) Specht of Dubuque.Sid Grandghildren; Natalie Specht,Nikki, Brett and Blair Birkett, MacKenzie, and Hunter Specht; a sister Lucille"Babe" Ruer, of Dubuque Two brothers Dlebert Hooks, od Dubuque and CLem (Lorna) Specht of Maquoketa Iowa. many neices and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Mrs Harry (Anna ) Roach, Mrs Bud(Evelyn) Peck, and a brother Virgil Hooks.
A John T "Jack " Specht Sr memorial fund has been established.
The family wishes to thank the nursesand staff of Hospice and also the members of DAV espically Terry Hilken for their care and concern for Jack.
