Notes for Charles Edwin Wimmer:
Ed was the youngest in a family of five. His father moved the family to Green River, Utah in the early 1900's, thus began a lifetime of his devotion to the desert. No matter where he was, he always returned to Crescent Jct. and finally, in 1947 returned for the last time.He purchased 6/10 of an acre from his sister Laura and proceeded to build, cinder block by cinder block, the first Service Station and Cafe.He had made it "home".But unfortunately for only the last five years of his life.
He had an amazing ability with animals and was an original "horse whisperer".He felt that nature should be allowed to take care of herself in most cases.
Ed stood 6' tall, with blue eyes and dark hair when younger. His eating habits contributed to a very poor physical health condition.
It was during the final step in becoming a Mason, that he had a sudden nose bleed, which could not be controlled. He spent several days in the hospital in Moab, but when the Dr there couldn't get it under control, he was sent to an Eye, Nose and Throat specialist in Grand Jct.He died suddenly in 1951.An autopsy was performed and the Dr said that his arteries were like dry spaghetti.
Many years later, when talking to my doctor, I mentioned the fact that Dad didn't like any kinds of vegetables and was mainly a meat and potatoes man.We discussed the fact that the Dr had given him a shot, shortly before his death and my Dr. suggested that it was perhaps a shot of vitamin K, which is apparently a blood clotter. It was massive blood clots throughout his body that eventually killed him, so we suspected that by not knowing his eating habits, the Dr had unwittingly given him the thing that may have triggered his death.
