Notes for Bette Wimmer:
Bette was the oldest of five children born to Ed and Erma Wimmer. Her red hair and freckles were the bane of her existance as a young girl, but the freckles faded somewhat and the red hair turned to a rich auburn in later years. Bette always enjoyed the outdoors and was quite adept in many sports as a young woman. She joined the Marine Corps during WW11 and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. During her time at Cherry Point N.C. she became an airplane mechanic and was featured in several recruiting articles being made at the time. It was while at Cherry Point she met her future husband, Al Lange.
In the mid eighties she was infected with Guilliame Barre syndrome which incapacitated her for a time. After undergoing extensive therapy whe was able to regain most of her mobility, but occasionally suffered some numbness in her feet. During the last years of her life she also developed Diabetes and was also on oxygen support.
Bette always had a keen sense of humor and loved to travel, although in later years she wasn't comfortable traveling long distances.
She was a member of Bethany Chapter OES in Green River and served as Worthy Matron and in several other positions, right up until she died. She also served as Grand Chaplain of the order in Utah during the 1976-77 session. (Bobbe Wimmer Kidrick)
