Know all men by these presents that we Hezekiah Miner and John Going are held & firmly bound unto Ro. (?) Brooks, Esq. Governor of the state of Virginia in the just & full sum of 150 dollars Current Money of Virginia we bind ourselves, our heirs, Exec. or Adm. Jointly and Severally firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this 19th Day of Sept. 1795.Whereas there is a Marriage deserving Thy Good Permission Suddenly intended between the above bound Hezekiah Miner and Elizabeth Going Now
the Condition of the above Obligation is such that if there is no Lawful cause to obstruct the sdmarriage then the above obligation is to be void or else remain in full force & virtue.

Hezekiah Minor, also known as Hez, Ezikiar, and Ezehiah, was born about 1765-75, Probably in Halifax Co. Va.(1) His occupation was farmer and land surveyor.He was married 19,Sep. 1795,in Henry Co. Va. (2) to Elizabeth Going,born CA 1770, Halifax (Pittsylvania; now Henry) Co. Va. Elizabeth Going,wife of Hezekiah Miner, was namesed in the 1801 will of her father John Going, Jr., of Henry Co. Va. Hezekiah appeared as a surety on the marriage bond of Simeon Going, his brother-in-law, and Keziah Tabb, in Henry Co., Va, also in 1801.Hezekiah and Elizabeth were enumerated as White in the 1810 Federal census in Rockingham Co., NC, and in 1820 census in Lee Co., Va.Lee County Law Books and Court Order Books indicate that Hezekiah Minor, a freeman of colour, was in Lee County, Va.,between the years 1815 to 1821.He an elizabeth owned 200 acres on Wallings Creek, in the Blackwater Creek area of Lee Co, some 10 miles north and west of present-day Kyles Ford, Tn.
Elizabeth Going Minor died about 1825, Hawkins (now Hancock) Co., Tn. and is assumed buried in Hancock County,probably in the Hurd-Goins Cemetery at Fisher'sValley.Hezekiah is believed to have died likely about 1827-28, in Hancock Co., as he no longer appeared on the records rolls of Blackwater Church by then.Hezekiah was not enumerated in the 1830 Federal Census.He was probably buried in the Hurd-Goin Cemetery,Hancock Co., Tn., where his son Zachariah is believed buried.Hezekiah was received and became a member of Blackwater Primitive Baptist Church, (3) on the second Saturday in May of 1824, and was baptized the same day.
