Paul...I found the following notes out of a book at the library called 'Middlesex Co, VA Willa & Inventories 1673-1812';
Pg.59 Catherine Lidford mentioned in will of James Blaise - 1700
Pg.53 Abraham Weekes will; 1691 - age 60, wife not named... Daughter Lettice Lidford - Matthew Lidford
Pg.203-204 (1) above will - court order (Abraham's wife millasant) Lettice Lidford - 12/5/1692 (2) "Administration of Estate of Mathew Lidford, dec'd, granted to Mrs. Lettice Lidford" 8-7-1693
Pg.214 Lettice Lidford, administrix of Mathew Lidford, dec'd, 4-6-1696
Pg.199 Court Order book - "Mr. Matthew Lidford, clerk aged 26, deposes..." 9-7-1691
Pg.200 "Mrs. Millesent weekes and Mrs. Martha Lydford are two of the executors of Mr. Abraham Weekes..." 3-7-1691
From a book called 'The Parish Register of Christ Church, Middlesex Co, VA from 1653-1812';
Pg.43 "Mr. Matthew Lidford (our late Minister) Departed this life the 22nd of March Anno Domo. 1692/3."
Pg.53 "Mr.Matthew Lidford & Mrs. Lettice Weekes were Marryed 6th june 1691/2."
Pg. 83 Thomas Paine & Catherine Lydford married May ye 26,1715
Do you have any idea who the Mrs. Martha Lydford is? I thought she might've been another daughter of Abraham Weekes' and married maybe Matthew's brother?
I'd like to know your connection to Matthew...I'd assumed the line ended with him really, since his daughter married a Paine.

It would seem that she was. Matthew Lydford did not live long after being married, but it was long enough to have had at least one child, and her age was right. Thomas Paine and Catherine Ledford named their first child Lettice Paine, baptized 9 Sep 1716, and their second child was Francis Paine, baptized 12 Apr 1719. Lettice Weekes had a brother Francis, and a sister Catherine. Those were popular names though, and it may be a coincidence. What is your connection to Catherine Ledford? Do you have the information about Matthew? If you don't, I'll be happy to send it to you. He holds a certain interest to me as I'm a Ledford descendant, and he has a (very) tenuous connection to my Ledfords of North Carolina. Good luck with your search.
