John Burr Kelly (b. 1837, d. 1906)
Notes for John Burr Kelly:
John BurrKelly joined the Army at Davenport,Iowa. Served with Company C,2nd Regiment, Iowa Cavalry Volunteers, War of the Rebellion (Civil War), from August 14, 1861 to February 29, 1864. Re-enlisted at Germantown, TN, March 1, 1864 to September 19,1865. Was a wagon maker. Rank of Corporal at time of discharge.
He moved his family from Iowa to Rooks Co,Kansas in 1880.3 months later they moved to Republic Co where they lived until 1884. Aft that time they moved to Medicine Township, which was their home, until 1899, when they became residents of Stockton,Kansas where they lived until their deaths. Hw was sheriff of Greene, Co, Iowa for several years.
The funeral was held at the family home in Stockton,under the auspices of the G. A. R. of which he was an honored member for many years He was buried in the Stockton Cemetery where his wife Loutitia was buried at the time of her death, April 30, 1919.
