Notes for Frances King:
FANNIE KING Mrs. Fannie King, who was the daughter of Rev. Moses Holland and the wife of the Rev. Robert King, was born April 15, 1794; was married in early life; consecrated herself to the service of Christ while yet young and when her husband was called to the work of the Gospel Ministry and set apart by the Church at Neal's Creek to that sacred office, her's was a privilege of reaching him to read the Word of Divine Truth, which he has so faithfully since declared to others, making many wise unto salvation. She was indeed a devoted wife to the husband of her choice and by reason of her superior attainments, and constant study of God's word, she became not only his literary teacher but his theological instructor, comprehensive commentator and home concordance. She became and was at the time of her death, the mother of twelve children, four sons and eight daughters, all of whom she had instructed in the ways of the Lord and by word and example constrained them to "remember their Creator in the days of their youth." She lived to see them all consistent and useful members of the Baptist Church and two of her sons ministers in the same. When her work on earth and in the Militant Kingdome of our Lord was completed, she heard the blessed invitation from the King of Kings, "Come up higher, and she quietly and peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, the 15th of July, 1873, aged 70 years and 3 months. Hers was a triumphant death; no dread, no sting was felt. May our last end be like hers! M. M. (Strom Thurmond Institute at Clemson University)
