Pictured is my brother-in-law, Thomas Shelton Massie, Jr.(b. 1962) of Roseland, VA (Nelson Co. VA) next to the grave of his 5th GGF, Charles Massie(1727-1817)located in Nelson Co, VA on his ancestor's Spring Valley Farm just below Massie's Mountain. Also shown is the historical DAR plate at the site of Charles' tombstone. Charles, a Revolutionary War Veteran and wife, Mary Davis' son, Thomas Massie later went to Eastern Kentucky (searching census records). Charles was loved by President Thomas Jefferson for the delicious apple cider he regularly provided to our beloved leader and his family. A plaque at Jefferson's Monticello home is a testament to Charles Massie's tasty contributions. This prestigious Massie line originated in Cheshire, England. They entered Virginia in 1687 (Charles' Grandfather, Peter Massie, 1639-1719 and wife, Penelope Ashley Cooper). Many were Statesmen and other well-respected, prominent citizens who helped to form our great nation. My brother-in-law is the 7th generation to live in this beautiful area of Virginia. He is married to my sister, Veronica Lynn Park. They have 2 children together. |
