|I'm relatively new to family research, but have had some incredible luck on-line finding branches of my family tree.I've connected with "cousins" I didn't know existed.Surnames included are: Stahl, Drudge, Spotts, Johnson, Wilson, Noel, Pither, Aldwell, Franks and Folliot.See complete list below.|
I'm now concentrating on the Pither/Aldwell side.My father was the first generation born in the U.S.According to the 1881 census, both of his grandparents were from England. My great grandfather made a living as an army schoolmaster and as a result, his children were born where he was assigned (Scotland, Ireland, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and India. My latest discovery is the date of my great grandparents' marriage and have just written for a copy of their marriage certificate from Ireland. From that document, I hope to discover the names of their fathers.Update: I just received the record of their marriage and their fathers' names are: James Robert Pither and John Aldwell.Their occupations were army schoolmaster and chief warden of the military prison.
