The Pocock, Steedman, VanSickle and Wessendorf Family Tree
I started researching my Dad's side of the family two years ago. It was given as a Christmas gift to my grandmother (Lorna VanSickle Pocock) from the whole family. Most of my dad's family lived in Bergen, Byron, LeRoy, Elba in Genesee County, New York and Monroe County. It was real easy to do, they stayed in this area. Since I started it, that I really liked it, that I started a business doing genealogy for Genesee, Monroe, Wyoming and Orlean County in New York. That when I discovered that the cemetery records that the history department has in Batavia were done about thiry years ago and never updated. So I been walking the cemeteies in Genesee County and updating and correcting the records. That how I discovered some of my family as to where they are buried. Benjamin and Ann (Harding) came from England, lived in Riga, Monroe County, New York, on a farm. Their children all married and lived in Bergen. Joseph & Dorothy (Bauseh/Baase) Wessendorf came from Germany and lived in Bergen and are buried in Byron Cemetery. James and Jane Steedman came from Scotland, they were married Feb. 26 1889 (my birthday, different year of course). I also discovered that where most of the relatives were all buried on hills in the cemetery. In Byron this is really scarly, my great great grandfather Samuel Parker is buried there on a hill, not knowing that down the years that I would married a Dilcher, but next to the Parker's is my husband's great great grandparents are buried. | The Pocock, Steedman, VanSickle and Wessendorf Family Tree Updated February 23, 2005 |
