Ruth RITTENHOUSE Family Group Record-53 dated 3 February 2000 does not indicate a spouse.
Individual Record lists Elwood FISHER and James CORRY as spouses.
There is a listing in the SS records for Ella COREY born 9 Sept 1891 died Dec 1962, SS # 057-03-1315, Residence RI.
Ella PRAY Probably died Ella FISHER. I did not import it because I am not sure about it. Rhode Island does not match up at all. The circa'd dates do match. Did not change birth and death dates in FTM FP until I am more sure of this data. (MKNP Note: January 2000, doing some editing and find this info has been entered anyway, leave as is for now, I am expecting good info from Ruth RITTENHOUSE soon.) 6 March 2001, I find now this info is imported.
I am removing it from Facts section - MKNP March 2002. Checked the RITTENHOUSE info, quite sure this is not our Ella.
Going by data from Ruth RITTENHOUSE and the STRACK's, this is not our Ella in the SS records. Plus state of issue is New York, I don't think Ella went to New York, plus she should have died with the last name of FISHER. MKNP March 2002.

Per letter from Nina Ella SALISBURY PRAY to Oliver Salisbury PRAY, her son, circa 1945 while he was aboard ship in the Navy. Letterhead Mrs. George B. PRAY, 42 Highland Avenue, Hamburg, New York. Tuesday, Dear, dear Od:
Tonights paper tells of the awful storm, typhoon in Toyko, - so I wondered how your ship rode the storm, and all about it.
Esther & the children had supper with us Saturday. - She read much of your letters to me which I appreciated and did enjoy. - I have some idea at least of the ship, etc.
- Denny finally cuddled up beside me on the davenport and went to sleep and slept while he was carried out into the back seat of the car.
It has rained all day and still raining. - and 2/ [pg] a cold rain too, - we have a wood fire in the furnace this evening. - Dad is sound asleep in his chair and Dode has gone to a Scout Masters Meeting. - I have been trying to do some mending and necessary sewing.
I spent all last evening getting my Garden Club report done for the year. - I have to read a complete report at the annual luncheon meeting. - I am not taking the position next year. - I am appointed to a chairmanship in the 8th District Federated Garden Clubs. - It will be very pleasant I know.
Verna Meyer just called up. - she says Jimies little girl is a doll.
3/ [pg] Thursday is the big meeting of Federated Garden Clubs and luncheon at Hotel Statler. Some of our members are going to New York next month to the big meeting there and will vote for our 8 dis't president for a 2nd vice president of the state Federation. How I'd love to go but a trip to N.Y. costs too much for me.
Dorothy EIGHME and Ray MILLER have sold their Blasdell house and are moving near Orchard Park. - (they had bought Dolanthas house I guess you knew) - He will have a few acers (sic) of land and can have more chickens, garden, etc.
I hear that Verdas' Bill has been home but haven't seen them since the Sunday they stopped here before Bill got here, - Verdas 2 children looked like dolls - one all in pink, the other all yellow.
Did I tell you I got down to the hospital to see Margaret. - the baby looks just as Bud did when he was a baby. - Margaret comes home tomorrow.
I am going to bed, I am so tired. - guess this all day rain makes me tired.
- Tomorrow afternoon is Home Bureau meeting.
Hope we hear from you soon for now you've had lots of letters from us. - Hope you liked the "snow bank & me,"
- Worlds of love, Mom-

Notes for EDITH M. MURRAY:
We called her Aunt Edith although she was my father's and Uncle's stepmother. She did not become there stepmother until they were in their mid thirties tho. She was a nurse and had cared for my Grandfather George B. PRAY before his death. After his death she took care of my Uncle who was slightly mentally and physically handicapped because of a problem caused at the time of his birth. He was born with forceps and that caused some damage to the brain.
I recall a conversation with my sister Gail that Edith and George married quickly after the death of Nina. There was scandalous talk about it.
No children with George Bowers PRAY, per personal knowledge. MKNP March 2002.
Taken from "Old Genealogy Notes" in the computer: Edith PRAY - Oliver Salisbury PRAY's stepmother (my Aunt Edith as she was known) died of softening of the vertebrae and mainly old age. Edith is not blood related.
Her signature is on George Bowers PRAY's death certificate; it is amazingly similar to Esther Mae PRAY's and they had the same initials. Edith M. PRAY; what does the M. stand for? MURRAY, which was her maiden name per newspaper obituaries.
Per 'Out of the Past 1992' pg 53, there is mention of Mary MURRAY. Wonder if she is any relation to Edith MURRAY 2nd wife of George Bowers PRAY .
Per 1870 New York Census Erie County Hamburg: page 16, dwelling 124, family 124, John B. SOUL family listed after HARRIS; Conrad, probable wife Mary + 5 children.
Also Charles MURRAY, age 26, white, male, farmer, birthplace New York, > 21 years column checked; living with family named Palmer SKINNER. He could be the brother of Edith MURRAY PRAY, 2nd wife of George B. PRAY. MKNP May 2001 - She did have a brother named Charles but this one would be born 1844 and Edith was born 1901. That's a big span, I don't think this is her brother afterall. MKNP May 2001.

Notes for GEORGE SARTOR PRAY: The name SARTOR is the last name of some very good friends of his Mom and Dad's. The name SARTOR may be spelled SARTER. I need copies of his birth and death certificates to verify this. Death certificate does not list middle name. Application for SS # list middle name as SARTOR. DOB questionable: 1995 CD SS record says DOB 10/26/18; Death certificate says 10/26/1918; my Dad said 10/27/1919; SS application says 10/27/1918. Ruth RITTENHOUSE says 10/27/1919 but she probably got it from me. 1925 census says he is 6 in June 1925, so that would indicate he was born 1918 because he would be 6 in June 1925 and 7 in October 1925. Some photos I have with handwriting from Nina Ella SALISBURY PRAY gives a date of Aug 1919 and the photos are of Dode. Birthyear must be 1918. I am changing the year of birth on the family page at this time, but not the date. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at the Hamburg Presbyterian Church, 177 Main St., Hamburg at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamburg Presbyterian Church. Interesting that the newspaper obituary knew he was going to die before he did, they dated his death 2 July 1992. He lived with Aunt Edith (not really related) for many years at 42 Highland Ave., Hamburg, New York. Nickname was Dode; he got it because when he was born, his brain was partially damaged because he was born with forceps. The speech part of the brain was damaged and he had a speech impediment. When he was learning to talk, he could not pronounce some words correctly. His own name - George - came out Dode and it stuck. Comment from 18 June 1989, also says the name Sartor comes from a family in Centerville, New York. My Dad was first taken to visit them when he was 6 months old. My brother Denny also visited them when he was 6 months old or so. He had been potty trained already but the folks were caught in a blizzard on the way home from visiting the SARTORs and Denny wet his pants and had to be repotty trained. His name was Henry SARTOR and he could kick his foot up real high so when Dad was little he used to say "Kick a moon Henny, kick a moon." They were not related, just very good friends. LOOK THIS NAME UP IN CENTERVILLE PHONE DIRECTORIES, R.L. POLK. See if anyone is still living or related. Dode was very religious. Rev. Ed SPRAGUE wrote to me and told me that Dode was a Deacon in the church and there is an area in the balcony of the sanctuary of Hamburg Presbyterian Church named in honour of him: George S. PRAY. A plaque was hung on the Sunday George was recognized for his service to the church. This is the Hamburg Presbyterian Church at 177 Main Street in Hamburg, Erie County, New York. The Reverend's name was Edwin H. SPRAGUE that laid him to rest at the Hillcrest Cemetery Section G Plot B 5 grave # 6 on Tuesday, July 7th, 1992. Dode must have been very well liked in his Church community because he had over 150 mourners in attendance. Ed SPRAGUE thinks Dode joined the church in 1930's; the church register will contain that date, the date he was ordained as a deacon, and the date of his death; suggests I write to Jack GILBERT and Gordon POECKING. 1925 New York State Census - Erie County - Hamburg Death Certificate.
