PINE ISLAND -- The funeral for Paul Floyd Campbell will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Berne, with the Rev. Terje Hausken officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Mr. Campbell, 87, of Pine Island, a retired farmer and painter, died Wednesday (May 28, 2003) at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, where he had lived since 2000.
Born May 19, 1916, in Goodhue County, he grew up on the family farm, attended a country school, and as a young man worked for several area farmers. On Aug. 15, 1942, he married Mildred Pries and they farmed in Milton Township, Dodge County. She died June 2, 1992. He married Vera Borgstrom Oct. 29, 1993, and they lived on the farm. He was a self-employed painter and did hobby farming. His wife entered the care center in 1999. She died June 27, 2002. He was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Berne, and enjoyed music and singing, fishing, playing cards, and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Dixie (Clarence) Giloy of St. Cloud; a son, Gary (Sandy) of Champlin, Minn.; two stepsons, Larry (Jennell) Kundert of Pine Island and James (Janet) Kundert of Ramsey, Minn.; seven grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; three sisters, Avis Weis of Pine Island, and Dorothy Trickey and Marion Lee, both of San Diego. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Zwingli United Church of Christ.
