Maxine Lovejoy Ferguson -- Eyota
EYOTA -- The funeral for Maxine Lovejoy Ferguson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota, with the Rev. Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Eyota.
Mrs. Ferguson, 88, of Eyota, a former Model Laundry employee, died Wednesday (May 5, 2004) at Rochester Health & Rehab East.
Maxine LaFortune was born July 17, 1915, in Chatfield and attended area schools. On Dec. 22, 1931, she married Clarence Lovejoy in Eyota. They farmed in the Eyota area until moving into Eyota in the 1950s. She was employed at Model Laundry in Rochester until 1976. Mr. Lovejoy died in 1971. She married Irvin Ferguson on Aug. 12, 1978, in Eyota, and they lived in Mesa, Ariz. After his death in 1998, she returned to Eyota. She enjoyed baking and reading.
Survivors include four sons, Robert (Mary) and Gerald (Carole), both of Eyota, James (Pauline) of England and Harvey (Diane) of Elko, Minn.; two daughters, Mary (Walter) Hein of Casper, Wyo., and Jean (Donald) Munson of Springfield, Mo.; four stepdaughters, Carla (Fred) Brandt of Osage, Iowa, Hjordis (Richard) Engel and Louise Mielke, both of Stewartville, and Lucille (Vernon) Weber of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; 25 stepgrandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 25 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two granddaughters and one stepson.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Eyota Funeral Home and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
