Leah Magdalene Barnhart (b. May 26, 1878, d. August 02, 1924)Leah Magdalene Barnhart (daughter of Daniel Brubaker Barnhart and Susannah Barnhart) was born May 26, 1878 in Franklin County, Kansas, and died August 02, 1924 in Franklin County, Kansas.She married Jesse Ikenberry on May 10, 1899, son of Joel W. Eikenberry and Ann Louisa Wampler.

Leah was born and raised in the Appanoose area of northwestern Franklin County, Kansas.She was the youngest of nine children born to Daniel and Susannah Barnhart.She was a member of the Appanoose Church of the Brethren.The farm where she grew-up was just east of the church.She married Jesse Ikenberry on May 10, 1899, just 3 weeks before her 21st birthday.They lived for about a year near Gardner, Kansas just after they were married.In the 1900 US Census, they are recorded in June living on the farm of Morton T. McClure in Johnson County, Gardner Township. Jesse was working as a farm laborer.They evidently moved back to Appanoose before their first child was born, as family tradition places the place of birth of their first child in Appanoose. Leah and Jesse lived on a farm less than a mile from her parent's house.She had nine children, two of whom died during childhood.Leah was 22 when her first child was born and 39 when her last child was born.She was a farm house wife all of her adult life.Leah's mother died when Leah was 42 and Leah was 43 when her father died.Leah lived to see only two of her 18 grandchildren.Leah was 43 and 45 when her first two grandchildren were born. Leah died when she was only 46.
