|The RAPHAEL - FISCHER tree includes more than 2,300 individuals, extending over nine generations. |
My maternal ancestors include the names FISCHER, HIRSCH, ADLER, STEINER and ROSENBAUM. They originated in what used to be known "Austro-Hungary", specifically in Hungary, Slovakia and Bohemia.
My father's family, the RAPHAELs, DRUCKERs and TUCHs, originated from the "Provinz POSEN" which was part of Prussia, and today is POZNAN, Poland. Apart from our own close family, all of my father's relatives (who then lived in Germany, Belgium & France) perished in the Holocaust. In 1999, thanks to an old postcard from San Angelo TX, dated 1 Oct 1914, which was written by Louis RAPHAEL, a brother of my grandfather (Isidor RAPHAEL), and thanks to the Internet - I succeeded in tracing that entire 'new' branch. Today I am in contact with some of the descendants of Louis.
There is another branch, the descendants of Nathan RAPHAEL, who was a half-brother of my grandfather Isidor. I would be thrilled to learn something about his daughter Rosa and her husband Otto GRUNTHAL. It would also be great to find something about Nathan RAPHAEL, about his wife and about his mother (who must have been great-grandfather Wolf's first wife).
Grandfather Isidor had one more brother, Jakob who lived in Apolda, Thüringen. Thanks to a search note in JewishGen I found (early in 2006) a direct descendant of Jakob, a granddaughter of one of his granddaughters. She lives in Poland, and with her help, I managed to unravel that entire line.I remarked to this 25-year-old woman that she is the generation of my grandchildren.Since then she calls me Grandpa…
Any information would be appreciated. I am of course willing to share the information that I have.
