Nathaniel Hickman, Jr.According to printed abstracts available, was born about 1740 and died by 1803.He was of age by 14 Nov 1761 when "Nat'l. Hickman, Nath'l. Hickman" were witnesses to a deed.He owned land "Toisnot and Little Swamp commonly called Mill Swamp" adjoining Thomas Vivrett and his own line. ("Abstracts of Early Deeds of Edgecombe County, NC, Joseph W. Watson, 1966").He might be the Nathaniel Hickman who received from the Cherokee Indian Agency at Southwest Point (Roane county TN) a pass through the Cherokee Nation to Franklin county, GA in 1801.He was dead by Nov 1803, apparently intestate, as no will for him appears in the Edgecombe county abstracts (GA records not checked). Several deeds in Edgecombe county show relationships (all abstracted in "Kinfolks of Edgecombe county NC").

1801 Nathaniel Hickman may have obtained a pass through the Cherokee Nation from Southwest Point/Kingston in Roane Co TN to Franklin/Jackson Co GA. ("Cherokee Indian Agency Pass Book" 1801-1809").
1803, Apr 20DB 11-396, p 59.Nathaniel Hickman, Sr. devised 1/2 his lands to his son, Nathaniel Hickman, Jr., who was father to Snowden Hickman, William Hickman, Polly Hickman, and Martha Joyner, wife of Lott Joyner, 20 Apr 1803.
1803, Nov 6DB 11-534.Nathaniel Hickman, Jr. was dead by this date when Lemuel Hickman, Molly Hickman, Herod Clark, Penny Clark & James H. Hearn sold interests in land descending to them from their father, Nath., Jr., dec'd. who was the son of their grandfather, Nath. Sr., dec'd. Nath. Jr. apparently died intestate, as no will for him appears in the Edgecombe Co.

It is not known if he is the same Nathaniel Hickman who obtained a pass through the Cherokee Nation from Southwest Point (now Kingston) in Roane Co., TN to Franklin Co., GA in 1801. (Cherokee Indian Agency Pass Book, 1801-1804).He was dead by Nov 1803.His brother, William Hickman was granted 300 acres of land in Jackson Co GA in 1803, Grant Book EEEEE, p.
328.He was listed in the 1805 land lottery as #1167 and drew a blank in Jackson Co.
