COMMUNITY ACTIVIST DIES AT 60
Frances Parker, an Upper Arlington resident well-known in Columbus civic
circles, died suddenly early Thursday at Riverside Hospital after a long
illness.
Parker,60, was a active member of First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd.
She served on its women's board in 1967,1968, and 1969 and helped organized
Group Y.
Parker was on the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts women's board for two years and
was a past president of the Beaux Arts Club.She was a member of Childhood
League Board No. 4, Kinder Key, and the Canterbury Unit of the Columbus
Symphony Orchestra.She had been an active member of Pi Beta Phi since 1940.
Surviving Parker is her husband, Thomas L., president of Big Drum, Inc.,1740
Joyce Ave.,daughter, Pamela Parker Gartin, 2250 Yorkshire Rd.,granddaughter,
Sarah, and mother-in-law Mrs. Walter Heer Sr. of Upper Arlington.She was
proceeded in death by her son, Richard Thomas Parker.
Visiting hours will be from 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Parker home, 2321
Yorkshire Rd.A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday in the First
Community Church.
Weir-Arend Funeral Directors, 4221 N. High St., is handling arrangements.
