|Gary B. Ruppert|
147 West Montgomery Street
|This Ruppert family is descended from Joseph Ruppert who arrived in Baltimore in 1837 with a multitude of in-laws. Among these allied families is found the surnames of WEITZEL, BUCHHEIMER, DANNENFELSER, HOLDEFER, HUEBNER and others. These immigrants were primarily from the village of Westhofen in the Rheinland or from neighboring villages such as Worrstadt and Monzernheim. Subsequent generations of the Ruppert line in Maryland married into the following families: BRAUN, GEIGER, SCHMIDT, WESTPHALE, KORNMANN, ZORBACH, ZIRKLER, YINGLING, HEISE and others. Some of the non-German surnames in this family include: PENTLANDand OLIVER. |
A family history of the immigrant Joseph Ruppert was published in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly in December 1994 (Volume 82, Number 4, pp. 269-292) under the title, "From the Rheinland to the Chesapeake: The German-American Rupperts of Nineteenth-Century Baltimore."
Current research is focused on identifying the European homeland of August Schmidt (1852-1915) and his wife Caroline Pauline Walters (1855-1929). This is an ethnically German family who was living somewhere in Russian or Polish provinces until emigration in 1889.
Any inquiries concerning the above surnames is welcome. I'm looking forward to sharing my family data with lots of eager genealogists!
This is the first attempt at presenting a Home Page on the WWW. I'll hopefully be improving it soon with more data and entries from FTM.
Hope to hear from any interested "cousins."
