James Andrews name first appears on Old Rappahannock County Virginia records in 1670 when he bought 132.75 acres of land on the south side of the Rappahannock River near the Occupacia Creek. In 1674, he and Nicholis Copeland received a grant of 567 more acres in the same vicinity. This land was in what is now known as St. Ann's Parish. The next appearance of his name on the records was Dec. 4, 1684 when administration of his estate was granted to his widow, Elizabeth.
