Elijah Sellers was a Justice of the Peace for Unionand lived in the Snoddy Community.He had the reputation of being an outstanding citizen,a low-keyed temperament and grew in stature in the community as years passed.Lore has him with a very high temper as a young man.
Once, early in his marriage to Mary Annie Pearce, Elijah was plowing a field with a mule that belonged to her.The mule, being stubborn as most mules are, would not follow commands of Elijah.After several attempts to get the mule's attention without success, Elijah struck the mule with his fist on the nose and literally knocked it unconscious.After pouring water on the mule, it got on it's feet and was most obedient to Elijah from that day forward.
