He graduated from Barrie Collegiate Institute and taught in schools in Simco County, Ontario for several years.Thereafter he graduated from Classics from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontarioand the College of Education in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hecompleted this course of study in 1901. Ater his marrigae he taught classics in Prescott High School, then Picton Collegiate Institute where he became principal in 1915.Seven years later he became the Classics Master at Ottawa Normal School. During histime there he completed his Bachelor of Pedagogy from the University of Toronto. In 1930 he was appointed editor of textbooks in the Ontario Department of Education. He held that position until his death.

During the Second World War she served for two years with the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service stationed at H.M.C.S. at Cornwallis, Ontario.

He was educated at Barrie Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto from which he graduated in medicine. He practiced medicine at Bishop's Mill for a few years and then moved to Prescott a few years after his marriage. He practiced there until his death. He took an active part in the life of his community, having served as a member of the Library Board, member of the Board of Education and a stewart of the United Church.
