| Louis Irving Silverman 6 Country Lane South Fallsburg,New York 12779 Fax: 570-296-4044 | I am researching the family of Chiam Silberman (for many years we thought that the name was Yuster)and Tauba Laib Iskowitz.They were from the city of Iasi (Jassy), Romania.Chiam and Tauba had 5 children: Louis (my grandfather), Fanny, Yetta, Lena, and Morris. We had been told that prior to coming to this country the family name was Yuster and after was Silverman, but according to all of the information we have been able to find this was not true.It appears that the name was Silberman in Romania and was changed to Silverman once the family came to this country.My grandfather Louis married Anna Cohen.My grandmother had at least one sister, Fannie, she married Harry Moskowitz.I have no further information about my grandmother's side of the family but would like to. I am also looking for information about Mendel Oxman of Lubin, Poland.He had a daughter, Ann who married Hyman Lubliner, also of Lubin, Poland (I am not sure what his family name was before immigrating to the USA, but his name was changed to Lubliner after he and his family arrived here.).Ann and Hyman had 9 children: Sam, Ben, Sarah, Sadie, Harry, Philip, Charles (my grandfather), Max, and Peppy. My grandfather Charles married Anna Stein, the grand-daughter of Saul and Esther Moskowitz. I am looking for any information that you could supply and am more than willing to swap whatever information that I have. |
