Notes for Thore Mathias Hunskår B. Nygård:Birthdate is a little confused. At his confirmation in Breim 1860, the birth date is recorded as 3/17/1846.
12/11/1875 he was married in Davik parish to Rebekka Jensdtr Nygaard, b. 1/28/1850 at Kalveholmen.
They lived at Nygard by Skatestraumen (At Rugsundoy). In 1865 census, Thore is servant for Nils Olsen Rygg. At his marriage his occupation is Seaman. In 1885 he is reg. as immigrated to Bo i Vesteralen, and in 1894 as immigrant from Bo to Bremanger. There is probably a connection to the fact that his sister Agnete were married in Vesteralen. But he must have been back home in the meantime, because his daughters Bertine and Pernille are born in 1888 ond 1891, according to the church records of Davik parish. And his son Johan is probably born 1886. 5/18/1899 his daughters Anne Marie 19 years and Petrine Rasmine 17 years, immigrated to America. In the 1900 census, Thore's occupation is bricklayer and fisherman. Rebekka's father Jens Andersen b. 1820 also lived with the family. 8/8/1904 Thore immigrated to America wth his son Joh. Thorsen Nygaard (Skarvaag) b.1886 they sailed on the Oscar II.They arrived in the U.S. 8/22/1904. Han became a railroad worker. Thore's wife Rebekka and daughters Pernille and Bertine left Norway 9/8/1905 bound for Oldham S. Dakota. Rebecca is referred to as"railroad workers wife ". He immigrated to the United States August 1904.
