It would appear that Elias K. Stauffer died c1864 when
Nelson was just a baby and his mother, Elizabeth C. Snyder, was unable to
care for him, so his uncle and aunt, Isaac S. Cressman and Barbara C. Snyder
(a sister of Elizabeth C.) raised him as one of their own children. He was
listed as adopted in the records I had, but since he kept the name of
Stauffer, I think it is more correct to say he was a foster child. That is
how he came to be included in my website, as I was doing some work on the
Isaac S. Cressman family tree and how it is interwoven with my own family
tree.
Thank you for your updates on your family. If your have other information
you would like to add I will be glad to enter it and the changes will be
reflected in the next update to my website.
I usually do an update for about 1000 names added to the data base.
Mytwo nephews and I have a team approach. I enter the data that I collect
from many sources, my one nephew looks after the website and the other looks
after producing much better reports than my progam offers.

1920 Census shows Nelson S. Stauffer and Wife Rebecca in Jim Wells Precinct, Texas. At same address is Orville H. age 57 and wife Henrietta age 64.One son Charles O. age 1.3 yr.
