IS #K, p. 263: Will of Mary Buchannon In the name of God, Amen, I Mary Buchannon, widow of Archibald Buchannon, Sen. of ..aher.. in the County of Baltimore, being of sound mind & memory, praise be to God, therefore do make this my last will & testament in manner form following, viz:
My soul I recommend to God and my body to the earth, decently to be buried at the discretion of my ..euton hereafter named and for such state as it hath plased God to cloth me with, I give, dispose thereof as hereinafter followeth, my debt s, funeral charges & expenses being first paid, satisfied and discharged.
IMPRIMIS: I do give, devise and bequeath unto my son John Prible a horse commonly known by name of Straw bald. I likewise give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Sarah Prible one cow and calf and also I give my grandson Thomas Prible one y aw [ewe] and lamb.
I do give and devise and bequeath unto my grandson Perry Brown one cow & calf. I likewise give and bequeath unto my grandson James Brown a heifer of three years old and also I give unto my grandson Samuel Brown one Yaw [ewe] and lamb. I do give & devise and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Symson one cow and calf and one yaw and lamb. I do give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Poloks one clew bed with all thereunto appertaining and two ruggs, blankets and sheet s and a cales ship trunk & likewise I give & bequeath unto my grandson Joseph Poloke a chestnut colt mare commonly known by the name of Fly. I likewise give him one yaw & lamb.
I do give & bequeath unto my daughter Ann Hawkins a black gown & pettycoat, a white samnette [?] hood and a pair of cotton gloves. I do devise and bequeath unto my two daughters Elizabeth Symson and sarah Poloke all the remainder of my hou sehold stuff, furniture and wearing appearell to be equally divided betwixt them.
It is my will and shall be performed at or upon my death that my servant man James Hill shall be a freeman.
Lastly, I do give devise and bequeath unto my son Archibald Buchannon and unto my son John Preble a negro woman called Sarah and her increase to be equally divided betwixt my aforesaid two sons Archibald Buchannon and John Prebble.
I give my son Archibald all the remainder of my personal as well as all goods & chattles when the above written legacies shall be performed and completed.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 16th day of May, Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and thirty. [16 May 1730]
Fam 00- , p. M15: Comparing the above with the names on page C2 shows certain facts to be evident. Stephen Prebble (N), Sophia Prebble (O) and James Prebble (P) are obviously omitted because they were not born yet. A microfilm record of St . George's Parish was recently discovered listing the death of Thomas Tribble on May 4, 1709. (p. 207 in the Register). This would account for the omission of Thomas (D). Mary Prebble (M) was not included, presumably because of death also.
One daughter, Mary Prebble (E), was omitted evidently because of death. But there were three grandchildren, Perry Brown, James Brown and Samuel Brown who are included in the will whose parents are not named. It would therefore seem logical that Mary Prebble (E) married a Mr. Brown [Samuel] by whom she had three children, Perry, James and Samuel, and then died before 1730 when the will was made.
The chart on page C2 would seem to indicate the Perry (L) and Samuel (M) were sons of John Prebble (F), which is in error. They and another boy named James (not shown) would be the sons of Mary Prebble (E). This error was caused by the wor ding of a report sent in by a paid professional research worker who listed the names as if they were the sons of John Prebble (F).
The fact that some of the people shown on the chart evidently died before 1730 explains why no Prebble descendants have been found for them.
