Notes for Winfield Fethington McCullough:Ada Rush Grady informed me that Winfield Fethington McCullough went by the nickname Demmer, his daughter LaDora named one of her sons after him then discovered her fathers true given name.
Ada has photos of Demmer and Hannah's tombstones , their names are both misspelled.Here is a description of them.
Upon Demmer's there is engraved in the upper center a cross with a circle around it
(it may be Southern Cross or Celtic Cross, I think looks more like typical Southern Cross)then below this Co. C, 34th Miss Regt, CSA, W. F. McClougher
no dates are given.
Hannah's is inscribed Hanner McClough .
I have been unable so far to locate Winfield Fethington, W. F. or Demmer McCullough or McClougher on any muster rolls for this or any other regiment.No pension records or etc.I have written DOR to see if they have a record of issuing the Southern Cross to this individual,they do not.I got a letter 11-9-2002 from Arah Sneed of Thaxton, MS we spoke on telephone .She lives 3 houses down from O. V. Stone Era Viola's daughter. She said O. V. died last week she will try to locate the obit and send to me, also her husband will look some information up at the Oxford Library.
