Simon (Simeon) Chamberlain, about 1731, perhaps near Douglas, MA.is buried in the Until the Day Dawned Cemetary, Angelica, NY.
Soon after his marriage he settled at Winchester, Cheshire, New Hampshire. On
8 November 1761, Simon and his wife, Elizabeth, were dissmised to the church in Winchester. On 8 October 1776, Simon bought a tract of land in Winchester. They lived there until about 1804 or 05 when they moved to Angelica, Allegany county, NY.They are listed at angelica on the 1810 census for Allegany county.
Apparently their sons preceded them there as French's Gazateer of New York states that the first settlement in that area was made in 1803 on the Genesee River near the "transit" in Belfast, NY.According to Turner's History of the Holland Purchase, the first contracts for land in Belfast were issued in 1804 to Benjamin, Calvin T. and Elisha Chamberlain.
