On the date of her birth, Daddy and Grandma Pearlie Pugh attended as Dr. Urban Louis Jones of Brooklyn, Alabama was delivering the baby while Daddy held the kerosene lamp so the doctor could see.Daddy fainted and dropped the lamp, it caught on fire.Mama said they forgot about her while putting the fire out so the house wouldn't catch on fire.
Nelda began work at Bobby Mitchell Chevrolet as Office Manager in 1970 then became General Manager.At the death of this dealer, she purchased the dealership and during her career had the franchises for Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Buick, Mitsibushi and Cadillac. The last franchises were Chevrolet and Cadillac and was known as Nelda Stephenson Chevrolet-Cadillac in Florence, Alabama.
Joe Bob, Joel, Alan and all of the grandsons are great outdoor sportsmen and hunt all types of game all the year as well as being avid fishermen.
