THE FRIDDLE FABRIC
THE FRIDDLE FABRICUpdated June 11, 2008 | Anita Friddle Stubbs [email protected] |
JAMES BUCHANAN FRIDDLE AND MARY JANE HARRIS FRIDDLE came to Hopkins Co, TX in 1894 from Grove Hill, Clarke Co., AL. and settled near Como, in the the vicinity of the Green Pond Community. My FRIDDLE line has been traced back as far as LOUIS/LEWIS FRIDDLE, born ca 1780 in N.C.He married Elizabeth (last name unknown), born ca 1790 in NC.I am trying to establish a link to the GEORGE FRIDDLE whose will was probated in 1806 in Orange Co., NC. through one of the sons named in that will.Their names were John Friddle, Casper Friddle, and Henry Friddle.I know that the youngest son, Martin Friddle, is not my ancestor.I am hopeful that contact with descendants of the three older brothers might reveal one of them to be the father of my LOUIS/LEWIS FRIDDLE.Since Louis named his first son, John, I am especially interested in the John Friddle named in the GEORGE FRIDDLE Will. It is thought that the FRIDDLE name was established in colonial NC by the German immigrant HANS GEORGE FRIEDLE,SR. who came to America in 1731 with his two young sons, LORETZ/LAURENCE FRIDDLE, age two, and HANS GEORGE FRIEDLE, JR., age 15 days.Family legend tells us that our FRIDDLE immigrant came to America from Germany with two young sons, their mother having died during the voyage and buried at sea.It is my belief that the GEORGE FRIDDLE who made his will in Orange Co. NC in 1800 and died in 1806 is the HANS GEORGE FRIEDLE, JR., the infant who came with his father from Germany. My search for the father of LOUIS/LEWIS FRIDDLE is now dependent upon information from anyone descending from either John, Henry, or Casper Friddle named in the GEORGE FRIDDLE will. My paternal grandmother, MINNIE ALMA OWENS FRIDDLE, descends from ETHELDRED OWENS, a Revolutionary solder in 1781 & 1782 and lived in N.C.He was granted 1000 acres in Barnwell District, SC in 1801. My maternal ancestoral line has been traced back to Heinrich ROTH/RHODT/RODE/RHOADS thru CAPTAIN HENRY RHOADS, a Revolutionary War Soldier with General George Washington at Valley Forge. Another ancestor, WILLIAM FOX, born July 3, 1801 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, was a drummer boy in the War of 1812.He was captured by American forces in Michigan, and never returned to Canada. His baptismal record at Christ's Church in Montreal bears the names of his parents, WILLIAM and MARY FOX. He had at least four brothers and sisters. When he left Canada as a young boy, he never returned, or communicated with his family again, for whatever reason.I am interested in learning more about his Canadian family. Other lines include: NELSON-PARKS-SMITH-HUBBARD-ROBINSON, RODGERS, DARDEN, HARRIS-STEPHENS, HOOKS-MAYO-EADY/EDITH, HINSON-MOORE, TEAGUE, WILLEFORD/WILLIFORD, CHRISTIAN, KEITH, STONER, GREEN, JONES. I enjoy sharing information, and discovering new branches and leaves on an ever-growing family tree. |
