Notes for BRYAN LAIRD GRAFF:
Born at home, Cessna school for 6 years, farmed until went to work for Glen Shaffer in 1938 (tool dresser), helped with thrashing machine. Bryan was drafted into the U. S. Army in Sept 1942 and stayed in for 3 years, 3 months, and 17 days. He fought in the South Pacific Area during World War II on many different islands. Worked as stevedore from ship to shore and back. Went to Phillipines and was around some fighting. Mustered out from Tokyo to California to Ft Knox, KY. (12-18-45) Dressed tools for Shaffer then worked as tool dresser for Shelocta Oil & Gas. (till 1965) Sold out to Dampson Oil Co (NOC-NOC) till 1-1-81. 10-17-75 a calcium tank exploded causing the loss of right eye and some facial damage. His mother had milk nurse so they raised him on catnip tea 2 weeks.
September 4, 1942 joined Engr Boat and Shore Regiment Co. B, Unit 553 of the U.S. Army

Bryan Laird Graff, 82, of Rural Valley died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.He was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Rural Valley to Charles Bryan Graff and Carrie Marie Kaufman Graff.He was married to Clara Evelyn Stadtmiller Graff, who died April 22, 1985.
He was a Rural Valley resident all his life.He was a driller employed by Dampson Oil Co., Yatesboro, and was formerly employed by Louden/Shelocta Oil & Gas.He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II.He was a member of Gastown Christ Lutheran Church and Elderton American Legion.He enjoyed Farming.
He is survived by his son, Robert Arnold Graff, Rural Valley, RD 1; his stepson, Ronald Leroy Stadtmiller, Rural Valley RD 1; two stepgrandsons; one step great-grandson; and two brothers, Clarence G. Graff, Shelocta RD 1, and Merle D. Graff, Rural Valley RD 1.He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bryan D. Graff.
Friends are welcome today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Elderton, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Gastown Christ Lutheran Church, where a funeral ceremony will be held Friday at 11 a.m.The Rev. William Hughes of Gastown Christ Lutheran Church and the Rev. Vaughn Taylor will officiate.Interment will be made in Gastown Lutheran Cemetery.

C. Evelyn Graff, 64, of Rural Valley RD 1 died Monday, April 22, 1985, at 5:53 p.m. at her home.
Born Oct. 10, 1920, in White Township, Indiana county, she was the daughter of Oliver George and Mary Jane (Stake) Stadtmiller.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Gastown.
She is survived by her husband, Bryan L. Graff; two sons, Ronald Stadtmiller of Rural Valley RD 1 and Robert Graff, at home; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Patriquin of Tucson, Ariz.; and two Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bryan Duane Graff and one Brother.
GRAFF - Friends of C. Evelyn Graff, 64, of Rural Valley RD 1, who died Monday, April 22, 1985, at her home will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Chapel of Elderton.There also will be a visitation Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church.Funeral services will by held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Vaughn Taylor, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, officiating.Burial will follow in the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery.Arrangements are by Bauer.
