THIS IS A CEMETERY ----- "Lives are commemorated - deaths are recorded - families are reunited - memories are made tangible - and love is undisguised. This is a cemetery. Communities accord respect, families bestow reverence, historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched. Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembrance are carved in stone to pay warm tribute to accomplishments and to the life - not the death - of a loved one. The cemetery is homeland for family memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living. A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always." --Author unknown -- Seen at a monument dealer in West Union, IA "A Tree Cannot Stand Without Roots" FAMILY NAMES Include (and researching) DYE; BALL;MEADE (MEEDS/Meads/Meades);FARLEY;KIPLINGER;SCOTT;ADAMS; KIPLINGER: ALLENDER These pages contain a number of names, I am working to confirm my information and feel as if I still have a long way to go.What has been most interesting is that my both my parents families have been here for about 200 years and lived NEXT door where I still live today, and a few times a 'distant cousin' from moms side married someone from my dads side. And I'm certain these ancestors HAD to know each other as neighbors!! Some of the names in these pages include Ball, Meade, Adams, Farley and Kiplinger, and came to the Henry and Rush County Area about 1820. (Meades went to Daviess County then)These pages are still being confirmed, and much of it has, but a lot of it not yet. This is so involved with many many names and theories I wonder if anyone ever gets it totally complete and accurate! Be sure to check out the links at the bottom of the page for photos of burial stones, a few are not of my family but located in the same sections and are beautiful and legible. Also check out the Spiceland link which is my home town in Henry County, Indiana.Looking forward to locating more 'lost cousins!' so please feel free to write me. Check back often for updates! This site is NOT intended as an offical genealogy record. If you need to verify an event date or source document for research purposes, contact me please. NEW!!!!!!CHECK OUT THE FAMILY PHOTO LINKS AT THE BOTTOM! Some of the photos are listed below, (converted to 'grayscale' for better printing)Some of the photo sites may ask you to join to veiw, but it's all free and you may purchase these photos from Kodak.I have bought most of the old ones myself to replace the originals in my records, as of course the originals are very fragile. 'Blessed are the Elderly, for they remember what we will never know.' "Show me your cemeteries, and I will tell you what kind of people you have." Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790) A Plea for Our Old Graveyards (by Sara John English) "Beneath the roots of tangled weeds afar in country graveyards, Lie the ones whose uncrowned heads Have stamped this Nation's destiny. Beneath those tottering slabs of stone whose tribute moss and mold efface, Sleeps the calm dust that made us great - The true sub-stratum of our race." |
