Sir David Baird of Newbyth, 3rd Bt. was born on 26 January 1832.1 He was the son of Sir David Baird of Newbyth, 2nd Bt. and Lady Anne Kennedy.1 He married Hon. Ellen Stuart, daughter of Charles Stuart, 12th Lord Blantyre and Lady Evelyn Leveson-Gower, on 15 June 1864.1 He died on 13 October 1913 at age 81.1
Sir David Baird of Newbyth, 3rd Bt. fought in the Kaffir War between 1851 and 1852.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Baird, of Newbyth, co. Haddington [U.K., 1809] on 8 January 1852.1 He fought in the Crimean War, where he was on the staff of Sir Colin Campbell, Lord Clyde.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny, again, on the staff of Sir Colin Campbell.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 98th Foot.1 He was Commissioner of Supply in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 74th Highlanders.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Haddington.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Haddington.
