Notes for Hope Tonkins:
When I was born, we lived at the house pictured (I took the pics last October) - this is on 308 N. 12th St. - Hanson intersects 12th, so the neighbor's yard probably conjoined my mom's. As you can see, the fire hydrant ties the two pics together and the street intersection is visible. There is nothing on the lot now, but it's a municipal street dept area now, so was probably torn down for that. The child mentioned must very well be my (stillborn?) sister "Hope" who I have dying the same day as her birth, August 27, 1944. Mom would have been four months pregnant as she left Illinois for the West. It is also conjectural, but I believe evidence may point to Hope's being born in California. I have a telegram from mom to Dad saying she would arrive March 9, 1944 in Richmond (a sister city across the bay from San Francisco) The last telegram said she needed to pay bills before leaving.
