Harris D. Dutcher was born in Ulster county, N.Y., April 13, 1854.
When just a boy of 8 years old he came to Reading, Ill.Was married at that place to Elizabeth Merritt Oct 1, 1879.In the spring of eighty the young couple migrated from the congested center of American commoners to the state of Iowa and settled around a fireside to use their time and efforts in building a home, the quality of which can be seen by its contributions in men and women it makes to humanity's number.For by this hearthstone were born six children:Arthur, Albert, Mary, Emma, Lizzie and Zadeth, all but the last mentioned (Mrs. Zadeth Dutcher Leonard) are known to us and live among us.Mrs. Leonard lives at Chickasha.It was in 1901 they came to Oklahoma and settled 6 miles southwest of Guthrie.1909 the father's health began to break, they moved to this city.
All the family are members of the Methodist church.Mr. Dutcher has been a faithful and consistent member of the church since he was 23 years old.He was a member of K. P. lodge in Glidden, Iowa.In his death the community suffers a loss of one of its most worth citizens.Always a faithful father, a constant husband, devoted to his home and friends always in the right as God gave him power to see the right but he rests from his labors that his works may follow him.

Notes for Mary Ann Dutcher: Guthrie Daily Leader-Obit-August 22, 1965 Funeral services for Mis Mary Dutcher, 80, longtime Guthrie resident, are scheduled for 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel.Rev. David Parker Jr., of the First Methodist church, will officiated and interment will be at Summit View cemetery. Miss Dutcher, whose home was at 1111 West Noble, died Friday at St. Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City, after an illness.A native of Glidden Iowa, she was a member of the West Guthrie Methodist church. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Carl V. Leonard, Chickasha, and Miss Lizzie I. Dutcher, Guthrie; one brother, H.A. Dutcher, Guthrie, and several nieces and nephews. Nephews will act as pallbearers. |
