Funeral services for Mrs. Eathel L. Dutcher, 80, long-time resident of Guthrie, will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday at the West Guthrie Methodist church.
Rev. Griffin Hamilton will officiate and interment will be in Summit View cemetery directed by Davis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dutcher died Sunday night at Blehm's Nursing Home. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was a member of the West Guthrie Methodist church.Her husband, George Arthur Dutcher preceded her in death in 1951.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Leona Miller, Mrs. Georgia Ward and Mrs. Edith Argyle of Guthrie, and Mrs. Elizabeth Tumlinson, Edmond:four sons, Guy Dutcher, El Reno, Raymond Dutcher, Oklahoma City, Wayne Dutcher, Glasgow, Mont., and Bennie Dutcher, Guthrie; one brother LeRoy Hall, Sulphur; two sisters, Mrs. Myra Thurston, Buffalo Gap, S.D., and Mrs. Erma Brown, Grand Junction, Colo.; 37 grandchildren and 25 great-grand-children.

Funeral services for George Arthur Dutcher, 70, who died early Saturday at his home, 723 N. 20th, will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday at the West Guthrie Methodist Church.
Rev. Noble Wiltshire will officiate and burial will be in Summit View cemetery under direction of Davis Funeral home.
A farmer, Dutcher came to Guthrie in 1901 with his parents.He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel L. Dutcher, of the home address, four daughters, Mrs. Leona B. Harris, Mrs. Martha E. Tumlinson, Mrs. Georgia A. Ward and Mrs. Edith A. Argyle, all of Guthrie; four sons, Guy A. and Benson H., Guthrie;J. Raymond, Terril, Tex., Wayne E., Oklahoma City;one brother, H. Notes for WINFRED ONUS WARD: He acquired the nickname "Windy" early in life, a shortened version of Winfred. He first attended school in Blair, Oklahoma, then Altus.After his mother died in 1922,his father sent him to live in the Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City where he attended Classen Jr. High. Later he moved back into his father's house in Piedmont, Oklahoma where he attended High School.He excelled in Football as a running back, and track as a sprinter.He won first place in the 100 yard dash attwo state meets. After high school he attended Central State University (now University of Central Oklahoma) in Edmond.He finished two years of study and received a Teacher's Certificate. He and his dad moved to a farm in Logan County, southwest of Guthrie.Their farm was adjacent to George Dutcher's farm.Windy met and married Georgia Dutcher.He worked at odd jobs and farmed.This was during the depression and most of his jobs were WPA projects.He worked on such projects as Bakers Lake west of Guthrie and the building of cottages at Lake Carl Blackwell. In 1941 he worked for the Santa Fe railroad then became a jailor for Logan County Sheriff Clayton Harlan.During World War 2 he worked security at Douglas Aircraft(now Tinker AFB).During this time he and his family were living on a farm where the Lazy E Ranch is now situated southeast of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Following the war, he became a policeman for the Guthrie Police Department for four years,He then went to work for the Logan County Sheriff's office as a night jailer.He worked odd jobs during the day (school bus driver, gas delivery, auto tire shop and several other jobs. In 1954 he returned to the Guthrie Police Department until retirement in 1971.He was a leader and active in the Fraternal Order of Police.He received a lifetime membership award for his contribution to law enforcement.This award had only been given to 50 officers statewide at that time. |
