Solomon Tracey Grant (b. June 14, 1810, d. November 02, 1881)

Both sons fought in the Civil War.Williamserved in the 16th ME Regt, Volunteers, enlisting Jul 15,1863.He suffered greatly from the Southern prisons, which included 6 monthsand 18 daysat Andersonville where he contracted "consumption" ,and came home to die.He was honorably discharged from the 20th ME. Regt in July 25 , 1865, and died Nov. that year.
Simon also enlistedwith the 16th ME Regt, in March 1864, and was honorably discharged at Portland, July 30, 1865.He fought in the battles at Wilderness, VAfrom 5 - 7 May, 1864, and was wounded in the right hand.In Nov. he was captured by the Rebels and held for 59 days.When released he transferred to the 20th ME Regt. where served until his discharge.
