I have been researching the Waterhouse, Watrous names in America for the past 30 years, primarily from Jacob Waterhouse, who was in Wethersfield, CT, in 1637, just in time to participate in the Pequot War. Since that time, because some of the Waterhouse persons did not change to the spelling "Watrous", it has been necessary to search constantly for these two names plus variations. This contains many Waterhouse/Watrous/Waterous, etc, in America, as well as several other countries.
Some of the birth, marriage or death dates are not correct, but given as reported from various sources.
Hopefully, this site may lead to corrections in those places where they are due.
Many of these records were entered several years ago in a very different genealogical program, then translated into another, different program, and just to really mess things up, finally set up in Family Tree Maker program.
Many of the sources used, although known at that time, have not been entered due to lack of a place to record them in earlier programs, and hence are missing from many of these records. Many of the sources, when known, still conflict with each other. Please take these words of advice to heart. I hope that whomever finds major errors will notify me so that the records will be corrected; God bless those of you who do. In spite of family historians trying to make a connection with an English family, to date there have been no verified, provable, connections. I should like to hope that this omission will be solved one of these days.
My thanks to all who have helped me through the years, and to those who will help in the future. I will be only too happy to share the information I have with any interested party.
I have thought long and hard about a secondary descendants chart and decided on that of Francis Cooke of the "Mayflower", since it takes in many of the families not mentioned in the Waterhouse family, and covers a broader field, such as Washburns, Conants and many others not mentioned otherwise. Likewise, the Hayden family of Braintree, Massachusetts offers additional information.
