John Mark Young was captain of a militia company.He enlistedfor regular service November, 1862, in the 13th WV, Vol. Infantry and earned lieutenant of Co. K.He was the color bearer for six months and carried the banner without faltering during the battle of Ceder Creek and was promoted for this act the following day.John Young was honoraly discharged June 22, 1865.
