Source 5.Rec'd by e-mail from Montague Co., Tx. , an ans to an inquiry I sent:
" I have some info to pass on about your search for S.J. Doake. The land that S. J. Doake rec.
was an original Land Grant given from the Governor, which usually meant that the husband
was dead.I found where she remarried Ruben White on May 11, 1876. They are on the 1880
census, her being 46 and him being 48 yrs of age.Maybe this can help you ."

I then went to the Montague Co site on the internet to search and see if i could find where
they were buried. In the cemetery listings, Montague Cemetery, Montague Co., Tx.,
"Ruben White B; 1829D;1897"
I have thus far been unable to find where Samantha is buried.

Most of what I have found for Samantha has been under her Initials: S.J.Doake. So I believe
this is how she signed her name most of the time.
The property spoken of in the above, was a land grant and was located near St. Jo, Montague
Co., Tx. I have found the record of it on line for that site. And her first husband, William J.
Doake had died in a Military hospital in Little Rock , Ar before this time.
