According to the "Early History of the Rochester Family," the old homestead, located in Westmoreland County, bears on the outside face of the chimney corner, the legend "W.R. 1746," cut in a broad brick near the coping stone. (p.6)The lands purchased by William Rochester were located partly in Richmond County and partly in Westmoreland County. (p.6)
In the Last Will and Testament of William Rochester, dated 23 Oct 1750 (Film #34270, Westmoreland County, Virginia, Mixed Deeds, Wills, Court Orders, 1738, 1723-1731), William left four negroes and 100 acres of land to son John; wife Frances, and her son Daniel McKenny two negroes for life; son William one-third personal estate.Recorded 30 Oct 1750.
