During his twentied, Samuel Pitts, entered into partnership with his father and
brothers, sending out merchant ships to the Bermudas.Like them, he was a
member of the patriotic group, Sons of Liberty.In addition, Samuel belonged
to the Hancock Cadets, well-trained in military procedure under Col. John
Have picture of Samuel Pitts painted by John S. Copley about 1770 with him in
his Uniform of the Hancock Cadets.

With active declaraiton of war, Samuel Pitts fought in the Revolution.In
later years he retired to Chelmsford, near the residence of Judge Tyng, whose
daughter was married to Samuel's brother, John, and lived in great comfort,
even luxury, until his death in 1805.
